The brief
The newsroom was launching a weekly segment celebrating students in Southern Colorado. They had a name and a start date two weeks out. They needed a mark that read as school pride without looking like a sports graphic, an open short enough to fit a news block, and pieces the producers could drop in themselves every week.
My role
Mine end to end: I drew the mark in Illustrator, rebuilt it as geometry in Cinema 4D, lit and animated it, cut the open in After Effects and Premiere, and built the bug and lower-third as templates the producers run without me.
Process
01 · Rebuilt in Cinema 4D, lit, bevels and the red frame
02 · On air over the gym footage
The flat mark came first so the station had something to put on the rundown by day three. The 3D rebuild kept every edge of the flat version so the bug and the open match. Lighting stayed warm and the frame picked up the station red, which is the one rule the brand guide cared about.
Outcome
Delivered on the start date with the open, the bug, the lower-third and a square social cut. The segment has run weekly since launch with the producers versioning it themselves.
